Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia Vahram Kazhoyan with the Chairman of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Vice Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party Samdech Vibolsena Pheakdei SAY CHHUM

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia had a meeting with the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party Mr. Samdech Vibolsena Pheakdei SAY CHHUM on August 19, 2022.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development and deepening of relations between Armenia and Cambodia in the spheres of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of education, tourism, trade and economy, as well as the expansion of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and a number of other issues.

The two sides emphasized with satisfaction the existing high-level of cooperation between the two countries within the international organizations, at the same time emphasizing that the expansion of the legal basis, which will allow the further deepening of relations in the political and economic spheres, is of high priority.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Vahram Kazhoyan, briefly presented the history of relations between the Soviet Armenian Republic and Kampuchea, and since Armenia's independence, between the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of Cambodia. The ambassador spoke also about the tourism sphere, noting that by 2019 the numbers of Armenian tourists visiting the Kingdom of Cambodia were increasing year by year, however it stopped with COVID-19. Now there is a need to revive that trend.

Ambassador Kazhoyan also highlighted the importance of the appointment of the first Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Armenia, Seyla Eat (with residence in Moscow) in 2021, noting that the agendas of both Ambassadors mostly coincide, which by itself will further facilitate the work of the two Ambassadors.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the establishment and deepening of cooperation between the two parliaments, reaching agreements to continue the meetings during the future visits of Ambassador Kazhoyan to Cambodia.
